LCDs mounting by CLO Systems the X-arm
CLO Systems introduced the X-arm mount last year, and of course at this moment they are at the CES 2006. The X-arm is a motorized wall mount for flat panel TVs that allows a viewer to adjust the viewing angle of the TV with the convenience of a remote control.
Strong yet clean industrial design of X-arm mount compliments the look of plasma or LCD TVs in any room. With a universal mounting kit, X-arm mount’s patent pending wall mount can handle just about any large size flat screen TV between 40 inch and 60 inch weighing up to 150 pounds.
When the X-arm mount is in a retracted position, the TV is only 4.6 inches from the wall so that all you notice is the TV. The magic, however, happens when the remote control is used to activate X-arm mount which smoothly extends the TV away from the wall, then can swivel the TV from side to side 35º (total swivel movement 70º), and/or tilt the TV up and down 25º (total tilt movement 50º).
The X-arm mount can be controlled through: (1) IR universal remote control; and/or (2) RS-232 port.

There are a number of obvious and some not so obvious benefits to using X-arm mount:
- Glare on the TV screen from sunlight can be deflected by simply swiveling, and/or tilting the TV to a different direction.
- Depending on whether the viewer is sitting on the floor or sitting aside from the TV, the viewing angle of the TV can be adjusted so that it is normal to the viewer to provide clearest picture as possible.
- A flat panel TV can be mounted in a remote location without the worry of having to manually adjust the viewing angle of the TV.
- A TV can be viewed extended 13 inches from the wall so that the TV looks bigger. For instance, a 42 inch TV that is 13 inches closer to a viewer will actually look more like a 47 inch TV.
- With manual wall mounting units, a viewer has to hold onto the TV to adjust its viewing angle. With X-arm mount, however, there is never a need to grab on to the TV to adjust the viewing angle.
CLO systems estimates that the retail price of X-arm mount will be under $2,000.00, which is much less than the cost of the motorized lifts in the market place today. They also estimate that X-arm mount will be available for sale in February of 2006. CLO Systems introduced X-arm mount at the Cedia Expo Show in Indianapolis, Indiana - September 7-11.
The reaction from the Cedia Expo show with regard to X-arm mount exceeded CLO’s expectation. Many attendees at the show thought that X-arm mount was “innovative” and “cool” when compared with the manual TV wall mounts, especially when the retail price of X-arm mount is under $2,000.
