Convergence not happening and home automationmarket not doing well

Posted on February 27th, 2006 in home-automation by Erno Hannink, (Visited 10832 times)

Convergence is not happening and the home automation market is not doing well, this was told to an audience of 150 tech journalists today on the 2006 Media Connect KickStart Conference on the Sunshine Coast (Australia).

This is maybe true for the business market in the US and Europe. However in the consumer market there is enough space to develop new models and products for the market. This my opinion.

More from the conference:

“The home automation market was “In a mess” and that convergence was not happening, according to the people in the debate. Researcher, Graeme Philipson; “The home automation market is not doing well, convergence has not taken off and that due to the digital home industry being so young a lot of mistakes were being made. Philipson on the CEDIA market; “The home automation guys are not getting critical mass. We are currently doing a research study for a major home automation brand and even their own customers are not happy with what they are offering”.

Sound Advance SA2

sound advance sa2 Sound Advance SA2Sound Advance’s SA2 is the world’s only invisible in-wall loudspeaker with ICC. Upon installation, this amazing speaker delivers incredible sound while being completely concealed behind a variety of wall coverings. Great for any home where speakers are better left unseen, this unique speaker delivers full range performance perfect for music or the special effects of your favorite movie.

Like conventional cone speakers, Sound Advance Flat panel speakers have conventional voice coil/magnet ‘motor’ assemblies that change the amplifier’s electrical signal into motion. Instead of being attached to a cone made of paper, plastic or metal, in a Sound Advance Flat Panel Speaker the motor assembly is attached to the back of a specially-fabricated diaphragm made of expanded polystyrene.

Onkyo TX-SR803E and TX-SR703E

Posted on February 19th, 2006 in Amp/receiver by Erno Hannink, (Visited 10787 times)

onkyo tx sr803e Onkyo TX SR803E and TX SR703EDriving Home Theater with Pinpoint Accuracy, Potent Power and Multi-Entertainment Options

To create an A/V home theater receiver of exceptional quality, the challenge lies in incorporating the delicate processing circuits and amplifier components into the same chassis. When they both draw on the same power source, the amplifier dominates at peak moments. In a good design, it all works–like the THX Select2 Certified Onkyo TX-SR803E 7.1-channel A/V surround home theater receiver. A series of other refinements–like VLSC for all channels, HDMI and RS232 connectivity, Powered Zone 2 and Auto Speaker Set-up with Microphone–keep this receiver firmly entrenched in the top league of home theater.

Couture Digital Blog

white Couture Digital Blog

There is a new installers weblog on the blog. The guys (and girls?) at Couture Digital started a weblog just a few days ago. This is a great idea. In my opinion you can attract new customers by showing how you work in your projects. Also it gives the client the possiblity to show the progress at their projects to friends and family.

David Hills was kind enough to inform me with an email:

“I thought I’d let you know that I’ve finally got around to sorting out our blog.

http://blog.couturedigital.com

We’re about to start work on a large-ish renovation project so I’m going to keep it updated with text and photo’s from now on.”

Also he wrote:

“Keep up the good work mate, I check your blog every day now!”

Onkyo BR-NX8 with DLNA

Posted on February 13th, 2006 in Amp/receiver,installing by Erno Hannink, (Visited 14129 times)

onkyoBR NX8 2 Onkyo BR NX8 with DLNADLNA (Digital Living Networking Alliance) compliance hasn’t really hit the US in full force yet, but it’s becoming all the rage overseas, and is one of the many interesting features Onkyo‘s BR-NX8 amp, also including support for AnyMusic service, an 80GB internal hard drive, Ethernet, a USB port (presumably for playing off mass-storage compliant devices), CD, and, uh, and MiniDisc (hey, it’s still kinda big in Japan, we’ll let it slide). And, of course, the BR-NX8 DLNA-compliant, it can apparently do fun things like stream audio on your network to other DLNA devices.
