Little effect on TV sales for World Cup Soccer

Philips announced last Sunday in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (German Newspaper) that there was almost no effect on the TV sales due to the World Championchip Soccer this summer in Germany. According to Kleisterlee (CEO Philips) there is however an effect on the sales in Germany. There is increase of 10% compared to last year.

This would probably lead to strong price increases just before this event since the retail felt increase in sales was to be expected.

100 inches of LCDtv

LG_100inch 100 inches of LCDtvLG has announced that it has developed a 100-inch TFT-LCD panel, which it claims is the world’s largest.

The 100-inch LCD panel is approximately 1.5 times bigger than the current largest LCD panel of 82-inches and is similar in size to the largest plasma display panel (PDP) currently available.

The 100-inch panel is a wide screen (16:9) LCD TV panel with a screen width and height exceeding 2.2m and 1.2m, respectively. The LCD panel supports a response speed below 5ms and offers 6.22 million-pixel picture quality, according to the company.

The product features a maximum 3000:1 contrast ratio, color reproduction of 92 percent and a 180-degree viewing angle based on Super IPS and super-large compensation film technologies.

 JVCs new LT-32A61 and LT-26A61 LCD TVsJVC introduces the LT-32A61 and LT-26A61 LCD TVs for the UK market.

A distinctive difference between these models and other LCD TVs in their class is the “HD ready” logo. The specifications of these LCDs feature a W-XGA (1366 x 768). These wide aspect ratio models are capable of displaying a minimum of 720 physical lines in native resolution. They are also equipped with both component (analogue Y, Pb, Pr) and DVI inputs, which are compatible with 1080i/50Hz, 1080i/60Hz, 720p/50Hz, and 720p/60Hz signals.

DVI Input
DVI (digital video interface) input for TVs is a connector that transfers high-definition video signals from digital devices with HDMI or DVI output. An optional HDMI to DVI or DVI to DVI cable is required for signal transfer.
